The best features from VirtualBox that will excite you
VirtualBox is a leading virtualization software that allows you to run multiple operating systems on a single physical host machine. 2022 was yet another big year for VirtualBox.
Here are some of the notable features that were released during the year.
1. Full encryption
You can now encrypt your VirtualBox VM’s fully including configuration files and saved VM states.
At present, you can only Encrypt the VM’s from the Command-line Interface (CLI). I’m sure that the GUI support will be coming soon.
In addition, newer versions of VirtualBox also support secure boot for improved security.
2. Support for Apple silicon processors
If you have an M1 or M2 powered machine, you can now run VirtualBox natively on Apple Silicon ARM chips. Until recently, this has been limited to a few players such as UTM and Parallels.
This is still in development, so you might encounter some bugs here and there. Nonetheless, it is such a significant step for VirtualBox and for ARM powered PC’s
