Snap Package Clean up: Reclaim Your Disk Space Effortlessly
Snap, adored by some and despised by others, is a contemporary universal package manager for Linux. It operates consistently across all Linux distros.
Unlike other package managers, Snap stands out for its robust dependency management attributes. But there is a downside: Snap packages are very bulky and consume lots of disk space.
Here’s how you can clean up Snap packages and reclaim your disk space.
1. Remove rollback packages
A unique feature of Snap packages is rollback which allows you to easily roll back to a previous version of any software package that has been installed via Snap.
Whenever you update a snap package to a new version, the previous version is retained.
Run the following command, and indeed, some packages may be listed twice.
snap list --all
For instance, canonical-livepatch and brave packages both have two versions. One is active and the other is disabled. The disabled one is the previous version of this package, available for rollback if needed. It is not in…
