How to Install Individual LibreOffice Components
Do away with bloatware, install only the components that you need
LibreOffice is a powerful, open-source, and cross-platform office package. It is compatible with documents from Microsoft Office and equally as good as commercial office packages on the market.
Most Linux distros such as Ubuntu, Fedora, Manjaro, elementary OS, and Linux Mint come with LibreOffice pre-installed.
The downside however is that the LibreOffice suite comes with some packages that you will never ever use in your life, bloatware at its best. Here’s how you can install only the components that you require, saving you precious disk space and RAM usage.
Step 1: Uninstalling LibreOffice
Since LibreOffice comes pre-installed on most Linux distros, you’ll need to uninstall it first then you can install individual packages.
If you don’t have LibreOffice installed, skip to step 2.
Uninstall LibreOffice using the following command depending on your distro.
# On Debian based distros
sudo apt remove libreoffice
# On RHEL and similar distros
sudo dnf remove libreoffice
# On Arch-based Linux distros
sudo pacman -R libreoffice-still
