How to Setup and Deploy a Linux Server in Azure
Cloud computing has gained much popularity in the past few years mainly because it eases the burden of maintaining servers on both individuals and business entities. Also, the cloud offers a vast array of services unlike having your servers on-prem.
Here is how you can setup and configure a virtual machine(VM) running Linux in Azure, a robust and secure cloud computing service from Microsoft.
1: Logging in to Azure
To get started, log in to the Azure portal. If you do not have an Azure account, you can sign up for a free Azure trial.
The Azure portal home page shows you an overview of the resources you currently have, a selection the computing and software services on offer and information related to your Azure subscription.
2. Creating a Virtual Machine(VM)
You can create a VM by clicking on the Create a resource button listed under Azure services. Azure will then present you with an overview of the available resource categories as shown below.
